This placemat was made using a single strand of yarn, it was supposed to be made using two strands of yarn. Sometimes I miss things when I read a pattern. The coaster was made correctly. It placemat turned out really nice anyway. It took me a really long time to make these. I made one placemat the beginning of 2009, if I remember correctly. Then I finished the second one in November 2009, along with the coasters. I actually made three coasters because one of them was sent to T’s son with a Christmas package in 2009, so I made one to replace the one that was accidentally mailed.
I made these potholders and this dishcloth for a friend of mine, her favorite color was hot pink. The dishcloth was just a basic granny square, and the potholders were made using two strands of yarn. I finished them in October 2007.
This was my first attempt at making potholders. Yes, the date is close to being correct on this post! (As I have said on my homepage, posts are backdated to the time when the project was made.) This was when I first learned to crochet. Before I had any idea that there were patterns for crocheting, until I moved to the same town my sister lived in. She introduced me to crochet patterns. Then I was hooked! For the first two years of my crocheting I thought I had to make up my own patterns. I haven’t really made up a pattern since these potholders. They have lasted over 20 years!!
